The Active Silence Training (AST) is a an educational proposal that aims to integrate science curricula with experiences involving emotions, training of attention and the maturation of children’s empathy with nature. The idea is that all dimensions of our being could be involved in developing a deep connection in our natural systems and feed not only our bodies, but our creativity, up to perceive the meaning of Gaia. Moreover our feeling of being a child of Mother Earth, of Gaia, is sustained by biophilic instinct and it is present in all human cultures, including those more technologically advanced, where a scientific understanding of the planet’s living nature has been developing to an ever more advanced level. Finally, the AST can contribute to integrate scientific knowledge and existential knowledge harmonically, blossoming attention and triggering empathetic relationship with Gaia.
