In the bilingual German-Italian lexicography of the last century there are two turning points: the publication of the Dizionario Sansoni Tedesco – Italiano – Tedesco in the 70s and the publication thirty years later of the Giacoma/Kolb series of dictionaries, especially the Dizionario di Tedesco (20011, 20092, 20143), by the Italian publisher Zanichelli and the German one Klett. The Dizionario Sansoni Tedesco – Italiano – Tedesco has not only introduced a lot of technical terms instead of literary and/or obsolete words, but also a complete reorganization of the microstructure, i.e., a completely new profile of the dictionary entry with a finely articulated structure in numbered meanings and a strictly alphabetical phraseological part at the end. These innovations assured Sansoni a decades-long monopoly in the market of the German-Italian dictionaries until the publication of DIT in 1996. The Giacoma/Kolb dictionaries are a response to the critics of linguists, that up to that moment were completely ignored by lexicographers, especially in relation to the lack of syntagmatic information in conventional dictionaries. Furthermore, special attention was paid to phraseological units, both in terms of their arrangement and of their syntactic, semantic and pragmatic information.
