Schafroth’s PhraseoFrame, based on the theories of frame semantics and CxG, is currently the most advanced model for a holistic description of idioms and fills an important gap. If the learner has to understand or to translate an idiom, an equivalent in L2 (usually found in dictionaries) can be enough in most cases, but if he/she wants to use it properly, he/she also needs further syntactic, semantic, prosodic and pragmatic information. Like an optical prism, the PhraseoFrame analyses every idiom in the myriad of its constituents, highlighting nuances that cannot otherwise be perceived. As the result of theoretical reflection, initially thought up for lexicographic purposes, the PhraseoFrame demonstrated extraordinary versatility, with applications for didactics too, as well as providing the basis for linguistic research.

Abstract
As the result of theoretical reflection, initially thought up for lexicographic purposes, the PhraseoFrame demonstrated extraordinary versatility, with applications for didactics too, as well as providing the basis for linguistic research.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
