The study aims to analyze the differences between teacher and tutor in a blended university course in terms of quantity and quality of their interventions in an online environment and their impact on student participation. Quantitative and qualitative analyzes were conducted on the interventions of the two figures. The results show that the teacher takes on the role of activator, while the tutor takes on the role of facilitator of the knowledge building activity. The theoretical and practical implications of these results are discussed and new research directions are indicated.
